Oregon United for Marriage Puts Its Efforts to Put The Issue on the Ballot On Hold, For Now

Following last week's announcement by Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum that the state would no longer defend the state's ban in federal corut -- the initiative is on hold.

 

Supporters are waiting to see how a U.S. District Judge is going to rule on two federal lawsuits challenging the state's ban.  THe ruling is expected this summer.

 

Peter Zuckerman with Oregon United for Marriage says they're taking a wait and see attitude.

 

"You know I think a lot is up in the iar.  It depends, if we need to focus on the discrimination measure, that's what we're going to do.  We're leaving our options open."

 

Oregon United for Marriage is starting a state-wide tour to fight an initiative to allow people with deeply held religious beliefs to decline to participate in same sex ceremonies.
