KGW tried to corodinate a debate between the two main Republican candidates runing for U.S. Senate.

Conger agreed to it, but Wehby's campaign claimed her schedule is full.

"It just adds another things to the schedule and we've already had ten to twelve of these forums with all the candidates and we continue adding more things on."

Conger's campaign says Wehby's deliberate effort to avoid debating him is an injustice to voters and implies a lack of seriousness.

Wehby has agreed to debate May 16th at the City Club of Portland -- only four days before the election.
