(Kansas City, KS)  --  The Portland Timbers will advance to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals after a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City.  Gaston Fernandez scored twice and Will Johnson converted a penalty kick for the Timbers.  Portland will meet the Sounders in Seattle on July 9th for the quarterfinal match.
