(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers have the eighth largest payroll in Major League Soccer.  ESPN reports the Timbers are spending a combined 5.9-million-dollars on their players.  The figure puts them in the top half of Major League Soccer in terms of payroll.  Toronto FC at 20.5-million and the Los Angeles Galaxy at 15.4-million have the largest payrolls in MLS.
