(Seattle, WA) -- The Seattle Mariners are acquiring pitcher Joe Wieland from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a swap for minor-league infielder Erick Mejia. To make room on their roster for Wieland, the Mariners have designated right-handed pitcher A.J. Schugel for assignment. Wieland spent most of last season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he was 10-and-5 with a four-point-59 ERA. He made two major-league starts for the Dodgers last season.
