On the big league diamond….the Mariners continue their 8-game road trip back east and continue to find wins coming off the All-Star break where Seattle has now won 6 of their last 9-games.
Last night in Pittsburgh, the M’s beat the Pirates 7-4 in ‘Inter-league’ play as star pitcher Felix Hernandez earned his first win since late May coming off a severe right calf injury.
Seattle got home runs from Kyle Seager and Franklin Guitierraz to lead the way.
The Mariners are only 6-games out of first place in the AL-West with a 51-and 48 record and play again in Pittsburgh today before moving on to Chicago tomorrow to face the Cubbies.
Sonny Gray had a season-high eight strikeouts and overcame one bad inning, Josh Reddick drove in three runs, and the Oakland A’s beat the Rangers in Texas 6-3 last night.
In the National League…the Giants beat the Reds 9-7.
