Mountain View and University of Oregon graduate Ashton Eaton, a 2-time Olympic Gold medal Decathlon champion, and 2-time World Champion and World record-holder is retiring. Eaton, made the announcement yesterday as reported by Oregon Live.

The 28 year old who grew up in La Pine, and later Bend just claimed his second-straight Gold medal in the Decathlon in August in Rio. He also was a 5-time collegiate national champion with the Ducks. His wife, Canadian national champion Brianne Thielsen, also announced her retirement. No word on what Eaton will pursue as his next professional endeavor.
