College Basketball

It’s history in the making, and never before in our lifetime have we seen both the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams of an Oregon University play for a Regional Championship.

But, that’s just what the Ducks have done. The Oregon men will play North Carolina Saturday in the NCAA Final-4. Meantime, today, the Oregon women’s team plays U-Conn for the East Regional Championship.

The Ducks men’s team dominated top-rated Kansas beating the Jayhawks in their backyard Saturday in Kansas City, 74-60, to win the Midwest Regional Title and punch their ticket to the Final-4.

It’s only the second time in school history Oregon made the Final-4. The first came in 1939 when Oregon won it all. Oregon, 33-5, meets 31-and-7 North Carolina here on KBND Saturday at 5:49 pm in the second national semifinal game.

The winner gets the winner of Gonzaga and South Carolina which tips off at 3:09 pm Saturday. The Final-4 is in Glendale, Arizona, and the Championship game is one week from tonight.

The other part of the history books being written in Eugene, is the Lady Ducks who dominated 3rd seed Maryland Saturday morning beating the Terps, 77-63 to reach the East Regional Final in Bridgeport.

Oregon faces 11-time Champion U-Conn today at 406pm televised on ESPN. U-Conn has won 110-straight and is aiming for its 5th straight Title.

Oregon State’s women’s team bowed out of the big dance losing to Florida State, 66-53. UCLA also got knocked out, but Stanford beat Notre Dame, 76-75 to reach the Final-4 Sunday.
