(Seattle, WA) -- Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto says he was hoping for a better start to the season than 11-and-15, but he believes improvement is on the horizon. Dipoto says even though injuries have sidelined some key people, including Felix Hernandez and rookie outfielder Mitch Haniger, he's happy the Mariners have managed to "stay afloat" without all the personnel he anticipated having. Dipoto says he's happy with the Mariners' improvement on offense, noting the team is second in the American League in runs scored with 119.
