Bend Elks

In Westcoast Collegiate League action where after The Bend Elks pounded out a 19-to-7 win in Kelowna, and leaving Canada late Monday night with a series win, it all imploded last night at home in the 9th inning at Vince Genna Stadium in front of over 24-hundred fans.

After 3 ties, and two lead changes, Bend gave up 3 runs in the top of the ninth inning committing 3 costly errors and giving Yakima an 8-5 win in the opening game of a 3-game home series with a playoff spot up for grabs.

The Elks also failed to get runs across the plate leaving 12 runners on base as the Pippins walked 8 Bend hitters on the night.

With just 8-games to play in the W-C-L regular season, the Elks find themselves still 4-1/2 games out of first place in the South division and a playoff berth.

Bend will reload tonight and try to avenge last night’s loss to the Pippins for ‘Free Kids’ Wednesday, where all kids are admitted to the ball park free.
First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m..
