Leavitt leaving Oregon

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt will no longer be on the Ducks' football staff.  He was the sixth-highest paid assistant in the country at one million and seven-hundred thousand dollars and had two years left on his contract.  His departure circumstances remain unclear.   Safeties coach Keith Heyward is being promoted to replace Leavitt.  Leavitt interviewed in December for head coaching openings at Kansas State, Texas Tech and Colorado.
