Rutschman First Pick In MLB Draft

(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State catcher Adley Rutschman was picked first overall by the Orioles in the MLB Draft.  Rutschman had been the projected first pick since leading the Beavers to the 2018 College World Series championship.  He is the first catcher to go first overall since the Twins picked Joe Mauer in 2001.  Rutschman hit .411 as a junior with 17 home runs and a .575 on-base percentage.  He set a single-season school record with 76 walks, with 26 being intentional, including one in the NCAA Regional last week with the bases loaded.
