Bishop Cleared To Play, Begin Rehab Assignment

(Modesto, CA)  --  After dealing with a serious injury, a Mariners' rookie is eager to return to the big club.  Braden Bishop is set to begin a rehab assignment at High-A Modesto after being out since the beginning of June with a lacerated spleen.  The outfielder was called up at the end of April for a slumping Mallex Smith, but was experiencing unfamiliar pain in his side and back.  He was removed from the June 4th game in the fourth inning, and the following day underwent immediate surgery to repair the damage.
