Timbers Top Fire Thanks To Late Goal

(Portland, OR)  -- A late goal by the Timbers proved to be crucial as Portland beat Chicago 3-2 at Providence Park.  Jorge Moreira started the scoring for the Tims in the 11th minute, then Brian Fernandez found the back of the net in the 21st and 88th minutes.  CJ Sapong scored in the second minute of second-half stoppage time for the Fire to cause some late palpitations in the Rose City.  Chicago played with 10 men the majority of the match as Aleksander Katai was sent off in the 30th minute after seeing a straight red.  The Tims are up to seventh place with 37 points in 24 matches. They are four points behind Minnesota United with a game in hand for second place. Portland will welcome Atlanta United to town Sunday.
