(Santa Clara, CA) -- The San Francisco 49ers are seeking other options on injured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but coach Kyle Shanahan says he could be heading for season-ending surgery. Shanahan told reporters Tuesday that Garoppolo's latest ankle sprain is a new injury on the same foot he previously hurt. He says if it doesn't require surgery, "Jimmy G" could return to action in six weeks. George Kittle is expected to land on injured reserve with a fractured foot. The 4-and-4 Niners host Green Bay.
