(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners dropped the series opener against the Tigers, 3-1, ending their three-game win streak.  They couldn't get the best of Detroit starter Casey Mize, who allowed three hits and one run across seven-plus innings, striking out seven.  Tom Murphy's solo home run in the eighth was the lone tally for the M's.  Justin Dunn starts the rematch tonight.
