(Oakland, CA) -- The Oakland A's are making a splash ahead of Friday's trade deadline with the acquisition of outfielder Starling Marte. Oakland is sending pitcher Jesus Luzardo to the Miami Marlins in exchange for the speedy center fielder. The 32-year-old Marte will become a free agent at the end of the season. He is batting .306 with a .407 on-base percentage and 22 stolen bases. The 23-year-old Luzardo has been inconsistent since he joined the A's in 2019. He broke the left pinky finger of his pitching hand in May when he banged his hand against a table while playing video games.
