Former Minor League Teams Suing MLB

(New York, NY) -- Major League Baseball is facing a lawsuit from four former minor league affiliates, and two of the teams are from the Northwest. The antitrust lawsuit was filed in the US District Court in Manhattan on Monday by the Staten Island Yankees, Tri-City Valley Cats, Norwich Sea Unicorns, and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. It alleges that the commissioner's office violated the Sherman Antitrust Act when it cut the number of minor league affiliates from 160 to 120 at the end of the 2020 season. The MLB has not commented on the lawsuit.
