(Flushing, NY) -- The Mets are retiring Keith Hernandez's number next season. The team announced today that Number 17 will be retired. Hernandez, who played for the Mets from 1983 to 1989, was also part of the Mets' 1986 world championship team. He joins Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza and Jerry Koosman to be honored.
