On the local prep hardwood, the OSAA state basketball playoffs tipoff tonight with the 'Class 1-A first round' where Trinity Lutheran hosts prairie city in a 6pm tipoff.

Trinity Lutheran, coached by Kyle Gilbert, is ranked 20th in the state and is the #2 seed from the mountain valley league where they just lost the league title playoff game Saturday night by just 7-points to Rogue Valley Adventist of Medford who earned the first-round bye.

With a win tonight, Trinity Lutheran will advance to the second-round Friday night against an opponent that will be determined by seeding. The single-a state tournament tips off one week from tomorrow in Baker City.

Meantime, the Trinity Lutheran girls’ team who won the regular season league title will play a 2nd round game state playoff game Saturday night.

Elsewhere, the Madras boys who are not playoff bound finished the regular season at home last night with a stunning 64-59 win over 11th ranked Gladstone.

The 8th-ranked madras girls also won, rolling gladstone in Portland, 53-33, clinching the league title by 1-game over gladstone.

Tonight, in the 5-A division, it's an inner-city rivalry double-header at Ridgeview high school with the lady ravens looking to win the league title hosting Redmond at 6, followed by the boys game where 5th ranked Redmond looks to finish league play unbeaten with a 10-and-0 mark.

And, finally, Sister’s girls and boys host Woodburn in a twin bill tipping off at 5:30 with the boys, followed by the girls game at 7.
