High School Basketball

Just five high desert boys and girl's teams are all in the 'elite-8' quarterfinals this week.

On the girl’s side...in the 5A division, Crook County and Ridgeview are headed to the tournament at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis Thursday.

The #3 seed Cowgirls meet 11th ranked Rex Putnam, 4th seed Ridgeview faces #5 Corvallis.

Also Thursday, the Madras girls travel to Coos Bay-North Bend for the 4A tournament, and the #11 Lady Buffalo take on 2nd ranked Cascade.

Meantime...on the boys’ side, Wednesday night, 2nd ranked and still undefeated Summit plays Roosevelt of Portland in the 6A tournament at the Chiles Center on the campus of the University of Portland.

Redmond, top-ranked in the 5A, will open the 5A tourney in Corvallis at OSU meeting Ashland.

Saturday, six state titles were awarded, and state champions crowned on the boys side were, Cascade Christian winning the 3A trophy. Western Christian claimed the 2A ring, and Crane won the 1a championship.

On the girls side...Nyssa captured the 3A crown. Union won the 2A title, and Crane swept the 1A trophy like its boys’ team.
