Report: MLB Sets Tuesday Deadline For 162-Game Season

(New York, NY) -- The MLB may be cancelling another week of the season if the owners and the MLBPA can't reach a CBA agreement on Tuesday. The league and the Players Association plan to meet on Tuesday after continuing discussions on Monday. Evan Drellich of the Athletic reports that if no agreement is reached on Tuesday, the league plans to cancel another week of regular season games and may even officially shorten the typical 162-game season for 2022. The league and the players are reportedly still far apart on the competitive balance tax and the bonus pool for pre-arbitration players, but Drellich also added that shortening the 162-game season would need to be negotiated with the Players Association in order to take effect.
