(Washington, DC) -- An American basketball player detained in Russia is in good condition. A U.S. Embassy official in Moscow was granted access to Brittney Griner, an Olympic gold medalist and All-Star player who the State Department has been pressing Russian authorities for access to. The WNBA has also said it's working with the government to free Griner since a Russian state news agency said her detention was extended until May 19th. It's not clear exactly when Griner was originally detained for possession of vape cartridges with hash oil.
