Pitch Clock Cutting Down Game Time In Minors

(Undated) -- The minor league pitch clock seems to be doing its job. Game lengths in the lower baseball levels are down by an average of 20 minutes since the strict clock was enacted. The new rule also isn't having a noticeable effect on scoring over its first 132 games, meaning it will likely be ready to be implemented in Major League Baseball starting in 2023. The rule forces pitchers to throw a pitch within 14 seconds without runners on base and within 18 seconds when a base is occupied. The latest CBA allows MLB to implement new rules with a 45-day notice.
