Major League Baseball Brief July 13th

In the show, the Seattle Mariners were scheduled to play the Nationals yesterday however, due to inclement weather that game was postponed to today. Now the M’s and the Nat’s meet for a doubleheader beginning at 9 AM this morning. Game two is tentatively set for 3 PM. Seattle has run a string of eight straight wins while the Nationals have lost four consecutive contests.

The Oakland A’s downed the Rangers 14-7 in 12 innings. The A’s exploded for eight runs in the final frame helped by a Chad Pinder grand slam. The rubber match of the three-game set is this afternoon at 5. 

Meantime, the San Francisco Giants crushed the Diamondbacks 13-0. The Giants have a chance to win the series today at 12:45. Also for the Giants, starting pitcher Carlos Rodon was named a National League All-Star replacement for Milwaukee closer Josh Hader. The All-Star game is next Tuesday in Los Angeles.
