>>Rays Beat Rangers In AL Tiebreaker Game

(Arlington, TX)  --  The Tampa Bay Rays are moving on to the playoffs after a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers in the American League tiebreaker game in Arlington.  The Rays will travel to Cleveland for Wednesday's AL Wild Card Game against the Indians.  The winner of that game moves on to face the Boston Red Sox in the AL Division Series starting Friday.

>>Pirates Host Reds In NL Wild Card Game Tonight

(Pittsburgh, PA)  --  The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Wild Card game at PNC Park tonight.  Francisco Liriano gets the ball for the Pirates, while the Reds counter with Johnny Cueto [[ KWAY-toe ]].  The Bucs are in the postseason for the first time in 21 years.  The winner will advance to play the NL Central Division champion St. Louis Cardinals.

>>MLB Teams Make Managerial Moves

(Undated)  --  Three teams announced managerial moves on Monday.  The Chicago Cubs fired Dale Sveum [[ swame ]] after two seasons.  Meantime the New York Mets announced a two-year extension for skipper Terry Collins.  The Minnesota Twins are also retaining manager Ron Gardenhire on a two-year deal.

>>Brees, Saints Torch Dolphins

(New Orleans, LA)  --  Drew Brees finished 30-of-39 for 413 yards and four touchdowns as the Saints torched the Dolphins 38-17 on "Monday Night Football."  New Orleans is 4-and-0 for the first time since 2009 and just the fourth time in franchise history.  Lamar Miller rushed for 62 yards and a score for Miami, which fell to 3-and-1.

>>Bucs' Freeman To Enter Drug Program

(Tampa, FL)  --  Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman has entered the NFL's drug program.  ESPN reports that Freeman has received a temporary-use exemption for a prescription drug that would normally be on the league's banned list, but he is not subject to a penalty.  Freeman says in a statement that he has a prescription for Adderall to treat ADHD.

>>Texas' Dodds Stepping Down

(Austin, TX)  --  University of Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds is reportedly stepping down next summer.  The "Houston Chronicle" reports Dodds will make the announcement today.  He will remain in the position until August 31st, 2014, and then stay at UT as a consultant.  Texas hopes to have a replacement before he steps down.

>>NHL Season Starts Tonight

(Undated)  --  The puck will drop on the NHL's regular season tonight.  The defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks will raise the banner in Chicago before hosting the Washington Capitals.  Elsewhere, the Toronto Maple Leafs face the Canadiens in Montreal and the Edmonton Oilers host the Winnipeg Jets.  The rest of the league gets underway later this week.
