Ducks Football Sees Defensive Departures...Thorns Win

MLB:

The Mariners couldn't get the sweep of Atlanta yesterday falling 5 to 2. 4 of the Braves' runs were unearned due to a costly error. Evan Hancock had one earned run and those unearned runs were charged to him. At 17 and 14 Seattle is in first place, a game ahead of Texas in the AL West.  The Ms have a weekend series with Houston starting tomorrow.

The Giants fell in Boston yesterday afternoon 6 to 2. Rookie pitcher Daulton Jeffries took the loss giving up four runs in 2.2 innings. San Francisco will try to avoid the sweep by the Red Sox today. Kyle Harrison will get the start. First pitch is this morning at 10:35.

Soccer:

The Portland Thorns won 3 to 2 over expansion team Bay FC last night. Sophia Smith scored two of the winning goals.

NFL:

The 49ers wide receiver room is getting crowded with the additions of draft pick Ricky Pearsall from Florida along with Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. There were rumors leading up to the draft that either of the two veteran receivers could get traded. That could still happen but for now it looks like San Francisco will try to make one last run at a Super Bowl without overhauling the current roster until contract conditions force them to.

College Football:

The Ducks have lost some depth on defense this week. Defensive tackle Ben Roberts and safeties Kodi DeCambra and Collin Gill are all transferring.

NBA:

The Trail Blazers will likely not be re-upping the contract for Center Moses Brown according to a report from the Oregonian’s Aaron Fentress.
