Beavs 10-Run Bruins In Sweep... Ducks Softball To NCAA Regionals

College Baseball: 

7th ranked Oregon State beat UCLA 15 to 1 yesterday, the game ended after seven innings since the lead was by more than 10 runs at that point. The Beavers get the series sweep.  Second baseman Travis Bazanna hit a double to pass Darwin Barney as the all-time OSU hits leader with 239.

The number 20 Oregon Ducks got past Washington 5 to 3 yesterday to get the series win. And it locked up a spot in the Pac 12 tournament next week. Now they angle for seeding position going into the regular season home finale this weekend.


San Francisco beat Cincinnati 6 to 5 in 10 innings yesterday with Casey Schmidt’s walk off RBI double. The win earned the Giants the series and upped their record to 19 and 23, eight games behind the first place Dodgers, who visit tonight to start a three-game series. First pitch is at 6:45.

The Mariners beat Oakland yesterday 8 to 4 to get the series win. Luis Castillo pitched six innings with 8 strikeouts and two earned runs. Julio Rodriguez homered. The Ms start the week with a half game lead in first place in the AL West at 22 and 19. Now, Kansas City visits T-Mobile Park coming in at 25 and 17 which only good for third place in the strong AL Central.  First pitch against the Royals is at 6:40.

College Softball:

Oregon received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Ducks will be the second seed playing Boston University Friday in the Norman, Oklahoma Regional hosted by number one seeded Oklahoma University. [at 2:30]


The Portland Thorns blew out the Seattle Reign 4 - nil. Sophia Smith scored a goal and assisted on the other three.

The Portland Timbers lost to the Seattle Sounders 2 to 1 yesterday.


The Trail Blazers will have the 7th and 14th overall picks in next month’s NBA Draft. Portland’s odds favored them to be higher than seven. The 14th pick is from a trade with Golden State last summer.
