College Softball:
Oregon was edged by Oklahoma 3 to 2 yesterday in the NCAA tournament regional in Norman Oklahoma. It was a tough tourney draw for the Ducks facing the number 2 ranked team in the country. The U of O finishes a strong final season in the Pac 12 at 30 and 21.
College Baseball:
Number 6 Oregon State will be the two seed in the Pac 12 tournament after losing to number 21 Arizona Saturday night keeping the Beavers from taking the final Pac 12 regular season conference crown. OSU will play Stanford and Arizona on Wednesday and Thursday [at 10 AM] in pool play. Semifinals start Friday.
Number 20 Oregon swept Washington State over the weekend to earn the three seed in the tournament. The Ducks will play Utah Wednesday and USC Thursday.
MLB:
The Mariners fell 6 to 3 in Baltimore yesterday, losing the series to the Orioles and dropping to 3 games above .500 with a game and half lead over the Rangers for first place in the division. Today, the Ms are in New York. Their four-game series against the AL East-leading Yankees starts this afternoon at 4:05.
San Francisco beat the Rockies 4 to 1 yesterday to get the sweep. The injury-depleted Giants have won 6 of their last 10. The Giants head east for a week-long road trip, starting in Pittsburgh tomorrow.
Soccer:
The Portland Thorns beat Houston to run their win streak to five.
The Portland Timbers 4 - 2 loss to San Jose
Local:
Track and field: The Summit Girls and Boys have won another state 5A title. The Crook County Boys won the 4A Title. There were several student athletes across all area high schools who won titles or made the podium.
