OSU Sells Out Corvallis Regional In Hours...Bend Into Softball Final

MLB: 

The Mariners rallied late to take out the Astros 4 to 2 last night thanks to a Julio Rodriguez go-ahead rbi single in the 8th inning. Taylor Saucedo earned the win for the Ms. Starter Luis Castillo gave up 2 runs with 6 strikeouts in six innings but was let off the hook thanks to the late comeback. Game three of the four-game series is tonight in Seattle. First pitch is 6:40.

The Giants had a sac-fly walk off in the tenth inning to win 1 - 0 over Philadelphia last night. The win gives San Francisco the series and pulls them two games over .500. The series finale is today at 12:45.

NFL:

Organized Team Activities resume this week. 

 The 49ers have had a lot of turnover on the defensive line. Reports say End Nick Bosa is helping show the new guys the process. The former Defensive player of the year has also said last season was not up to his playing standard and he wants to focus better this season. Due to COVID, injury, and a contract hold-out Bosa hasn’t been at many OTAs the past few years.

The Seahawks are slowly installing new defensive schemes according to head coach Mike Macdonald, who also praised cornerback Riq Woolen who appears to be fully recovered from last season’s surgery and other assorted injuries. Quarterback Sam Howell is solidifying his spot as backup to Geno Smith.

College Baseball:

Oregon State fans sold out the Corvallis regional games this weekend…in just three hours after they went on sale. The Beavers play Tulane Friday night at 6.. 

The Ducks are hoping for a return to the Super Regional via a road win just like in Nashville last season. Oregon plays San Diego on Friday at noon. 

Soccer:

The Portland Timbers are in Texas to take on Austin FC today. Austin is 5th in the Western conference with 22 points compared to the Timbers 16 which has Portland in 10th place, currently out of playoff contention. Match starts at 5:30.

Local: 

High school State tournaments - Softball, 5A Semifinals - 2 seed Bend shutout 3 seed Silverton yesterday to advance to the final Saturday in Eugene against 4 seed Lebanon. 

5A Baseball Semifinals. Summit and Ridgeview won’t advance.  West Albany will take on Thurston in the final.
