Ducks' Sinicki Gold Glove...Beavs' Game Switches Networks

MLB: 

The Giants couldn’t get the sweep, falling 6 to 1 to Philadelphia yesterday. Kyle Harrison gave up 12 hits and allowed 4 runs in five innings. The Giants bats were quite most of the game, scoring their only run in the bottom of the 9th. The Yankees come to San Francisco for a series starting tomorrow. The Giants have won 7 of their last 10 and are a game above .500.

The Mariners got by the Astros 2 to 1 in 10 innings last night. A JP Crawford sacrifice fly won the game and the series for the Ms. It was a duel between Seattle starter George Kirby and Houston ace Justin Verlander, both pitchers went deep into the game, each allowing a run.  Game four of the series is this afternoon in Seattle. First pitch is 1:10.

Soccer:

The Portland Timbers shut out Austin FC yesterday. Evander scored just before half and Jonathan Rodriguez scored on a penalty in the 66th minute to add a second goal. That’s a big 3 points in the standings with the win, jumping up to 8th place in the Western Conference. Austin dropped to 6th. It was just the second road victory of the season for the Timbers who are back home on Saturday against Houston.

 

College Softball:  Oregon’s Paige Sinicki was named the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove award winner at shortstop on Wednesday. The junior is the first player in Oregon softball history to win a Gold Glove. Sinicki was the Pac 12 Co Defensive Player of the Year

College Baseball:

The Ducks have made it to four straight regionals. The second time that’s happened since 2012 through 2015. Oregon is the three seed opening against number two San Diego tomorrow at noon. 

Oregon State, top seed in the Corvallis regional, has been bumped up to ESPN 2 from ESPNU. The Beavers play Tulane tomorrow night starting at 6.
