Local:
Congrats to Bend High, the 5A State Softball champions! The Lava Bears defeated Lebanon Saturday for the title, after getting to the semifinals the last two seasons.
The Bend Elks opened the West Coast League season against the Walla Walla Sweets at Vince Genna Stadium with a series win over the weekend, but couldn’t get the sweep falling 10 to 6 last night. Corvallis is in town tomorrow night.
College Baseball:
NCAA Tournament Regionals.
Oregon shutout UC Santa Barbara 3 to 0 last night to take the Santa Barbara regional and return to their second straight Super Regional. It will be in College Station, Texas to play a best of three against Texas A & M starting Friday.
Oregon State had its game against UC Irvine rained out yesterday. The Beavers were leading 6-4 when the game was postponed. It resumes today at 12 with the Anteaters batting in the bottom of the fourth. The Beavers will advance to the Super Regional to face Kentucky with a win.
MLB:
The Giants were swept out of New York falling 7 to 5 to theYankees yesterday…and dropped into 3rd place behind the Padres. San Francisco’s long road trip continues in Phoenix tonight for a three game series with the Diamondbacks, who are 4th in the NL West. Game 1 starts tonight at 6:40.
The Mariners got the weekend sweep over the Angels, closing it out yesterday 5 to 1. Luis Castillo got the win. Seattle has taken seven of their last eight games. The Ms are off today, sitting in first place with a 4 game lead over the Rangers. Tomorrow they start a series at Oakland.
Soccer:
The Portland Timbers came back to draw with Houston on Saturday.

49ers Tight End George Kittle is recovering from surgery to a core muscle injury. He told reporters he’s recovering on pace. Tight End Charvarius Ward also had the procedure and is making progress in rehab. Both are expected to be ready for the start of the regular season if not training camp later this summer.
