Elks Fall To Corvallis...Beavers On Baseball Awards Lists

MLB: 

San Francisco took out the Diamondbacks 9 to 3 yesterday behind Wilmer Flores’ five RBI. His grand slam was part of a six-run third inning and was one of three Giants to homer on the day. Jordan Hicks picked up the win. The six game losing streak ends, but the long road trip continues in Texas tomorrow for a weekend series with the Rangers.

The Mariners were edged by Oakland 2 to 1 last night. The only run for the Ms was a Julio Rodriguez solo shot in the top of the 9th. Logan Gilbert’s seven inning, 1 earned run on five hits went for the loss. Game 3 for the series win is today. First pitch in Oakland is at 12:37.

Local: 

The Bend Elks fell 7 to 1 to Corvallis last night. The Elks fall to 2 and 3 with the Knights remaining undefeated on the early season. The series finishes tonight with Bend trying to avoid the sweep. First pitch is set for 6:35.

College Baseball:

NCAA Tournament.

Beavers junior Travis Bazzana has been selected as one of three finalists for the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award and for the Golden Spikes Award, for baseball’s top amateur player. Pitcher Bridger Holmes was named a finalist on the Stopper Of The Year Watch List for the country’s best closer. The awards will be announced during the men’s college world series.

Oregon State will be in Lexington, Kentucky to take on the number two overall seed Kentucky Wildcats in the best of three series starting Saturday afternoon. [ at 3. Game 2 will be Sunday night at 6. And if a game three is needed it will be Monday afternoon. ]

Oregon will have its hands full against Texas A & M in College Station, Texas. The number three overall seed starting Saturday morning at 11, game two is Sunday and game three will be Monday if necessary.

NBA:

Even as the Finals are set to tip-off today, mock drafts and trade speculation is swirling around the Trail Blazers. The Draft is three weeks away. As the team rebuilds they could deal Jerami Grant,  Malcolm Brogdon, or even Anfernee Simons and one of their two first round picks at 7 and 14 in exchange for future assets to build around Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe.
