Elks in Walla Walla

MLB: 

San Francisco came back in the 9th inning yesterday on a Thairo Estrada three-run shot to beat the Cubs 7 to 6. Estrada knocked in four of the runs with solo homers from Heliot Ramos and Patrick Bailey. The win moves the Giants into 2nd in the NL West by a half game over the Padres. They’re still 8 and a half games behind the Dodgers at 36 and 37. Game 2 of the series against the Cubbies has First pitch today at 5:05.

The Mariners are coming  into Cleveland today 12 games over .500, on top of the AL West with a nine game lead over the Astros and Rangers. This series is a big test though, against the AL Central leading Guardians who come in at 44 and 25. Bryce Miller is on the hill for the Ms. First pitch today is at 3:40.

College Football: 

Oregon State received an in-state commitment for its class of 2025 from Jake Normoyle, a three-star offensive lineman from West Linn. Normoyle joins four other high school recruits who have committed to the ‘25 class at Corvallis.

Oregon has a couple of newcomers now on campus, with Duke safety transfer Brandon Johnson and Michigan State defensive line transfer Derrick Harmon announcing on social media they are in Eugene. Both are expected to contribute to next season’s defensive squad.

Local: 

The Elks are on the road in Walla Walla tonight. Bend is in 4th place in the southern division at 8 and 7, 5 and half games behind Corvallis for first and a game behind Yakima Valley for third. First pitch tonight against the Sweets is at 6:35.
