MLB:
San Francisco got swept in St Louis going down 5 to 3 yesterday. Logan Webb took the loss giving up four runs in six innings. Catcher Patrick Bailey’s homer in the 8th inning broke up a perfect game by Cardinals pitcher Sonny Gray. The Giants have fallen back to 4th place in the Division, six games below .500. They’re back at Oracle Park to face the Cubs again who they just lost a series to last week in Chicago. First pitch tonight is at 6:45
The Mariners had a tough time in south Florida losing 6 to 4 yesterday and dropping two of three to the last-place Marlins. Bryce Miller got roughed up allowing six runs on six hits in four innings. Luke Raley had a two run homer. Julio Rodgriguez went 0 for 5 batting cleanup. Seattle has a six game lead over Houston; they travel to Tampa where the Rays are two games below .500 but have won four of their last five. First pitch is at 3:50 today.
Soccer:
The Portland Thorns were blown out by Kansas City 4 to 1 yesterday. Sophia Smith scored the Thorns’ lone goal. It drops Portland into 5th place on the NWSL table.
The Portland Timbers got a 2-nothing win over Vancouver with Jonathan Rodríguez scoring for the second straight match. The Timbers have won two in a row, giving them 7 wins this season and landing them in 6th place in the MLS West.
NBA:
With the Draft approaching this week, Portland has held the last of its in-person player scouting assessments. They have also reportedly talked with Houston about trading up for the Rockets third overall pick. The Blazers hold picks 7 and 14 in Wednesday’s Draft.
Local:
The Elks were edged 4 to 3 by Ridgefield last night, unable to get the sweep of the Raptors. Bend moved into third place at 12 and 9. They’ll travel to Ridgefield next for another series against the Raptors starting tomorrow.
