Elks Blast Raptors...NBA Draft: Blazers Pick 7th, 14th

MLB:

The Mariners were blown out 11 - 3 by the Rays yesterday. Luis Castillo took the loss, giving up four runs in 5.1innings. Mitch Garver hit another homer. Ty France had a two run shot to account for Seattle’s scoring.  The Ms will now try to salvage the series against Tampa… and stop their three game losing streak. First pitch is this morning at 9:10.

San Francisco beat the Cubs again last night. Six Giants pitchers held Chicago to 1 run on four hits. The Giants plated 5 with the middle of the order Jorge Soler, Matt Chapman, and Michael Conforto knocking in 4 of them. Game three of the four game series with the Cubbies starts at 6:45 tonight.

NBA:

With the first round of the Draft today, Portland has some options with the 7th and 14th overall picks. Big men Zach Edey, the two-time college National Player of the Year, and Donovan Clingan from the national champion UConn Huskies have both been linked to the 7th pick. A few mock drafts had small forward Cody Williams a freshman out of Colorado getting chosen. The 14th pick could be a selection for a later trade involving Jerami Grant or maybe even centers Deandre Ayton or Robert Williams III. One name that popped up often was French prospect Tidjane Salaun.

The Draft starts at five this afternoon.

The Trail Blazers also have two picks in tomorrow’s second round at 34th, and 40th.

Local:

The Elks hammered Ridgefield 10 to 4 last night. Interestingly all 14 of the runs came in the 8th inning. Bend scored 10 in the top, and the Raptors mustered 4 in the bottom. Elks Pitcher Reid Madariaga threw six hitless innings to start the game before coming out in the 7th. They’ve now won six of their last 10. Game two of the series is tonight at 6:35.
