Ducks', Beavers' Camps Finishing Up

College Football:

Oregon finishes up the training camp portion of practice today. Tomorrow’s an off day and then they’ll move into game week preparation.  Hear more on the Oregon Ducks Insider daily podcast at KBND dot com. The season starts Saturday the 31st against Idaho.

MLB:

The Mariners lost 6 to 3 to the Dodgers last night. Jorge Polanco went 2 for 3 and knocked in all of Seattle’s runs. The Ms will try to salvage the series today in LA. First pitch is 7:10.

San Francisco took down the White Sox 4 to 1 yesterday. Heliot Ramos had 2 RBI while starter Robbie Ray went 6.2 giving up the one run.  The Giants go for the sweep in Chicago today. First pitch is at 12:45.

NFL:

The Seahawks have quarterback Sam Howell playing well in the two preseason games, as he looks to have the QB2 spot locked up. Seattle would prefer to have him come in for Geno Smith in a blowout rather than because he’s banged up. That depends on the health of the offensive line. It looks like tackle Abraham Lucas is still not a 100% to make it on the field Week 1, but new free-agent acquisition center Connor Williams did practice yesterday. He’s coming  off ACL surgery. The preseason finishes back in Seattle Saturday against Cleveland.

The 49ers finish the preseason Friday against the Raiders.

Local:

The Oregon Cascades 100 from Bend to Sisters is this weekend. Racers have to go a hundred miles in under 32 hours to finish. The starting gun goes off Saturday at Pacific Crest Middle School and finishes Sunday at Sisters Middle School. The 50 miler starts at Swampy Lakes Sno-Park. The race course is in the Deschutes National Forest between Bend and Sisters. It’s a Western States Endurance race qualifier.
