Ducks' WR Johnson Co-Player Of The Week

College Football:

Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson is the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Ducks’ win at UCLA last Saturday. Johnson had 11 receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

The Pac 12 conference is up to 8 schools with the addition of Gonzaga in 2026 but the Bulldogs don’t play football so another program is needed to be eligible for the football playoffs. Some other universities that have shown interest in joining the conference of champions include Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and Sacramento State which currently is in the FCS Big Sky Conference. A group of boosters have formed the so called Sac 12 which is trying to raise 50-million dollars in NIL money to entice the Pac 12 for an invite.

Oregon State and future Pac 12 opponent Colorado State play in Corvallis Saturday afternoon.

MLB: 

San Francisco Giants legend Buster Posey is the team’s new president of baseball operations. The World Series winning catcher retired in 2021. Posey says he’ll be hiring a new general manager by the end of the month.

NFL: 

San Francisco 

Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald wouldn’t give a return date for the handful of injured defensive starters missing from the Seahawks line-up. The coach would only say each player was on his own timeline.  The Giants come to Lumen Field this Sunday.

NBA:

The Trail Blazers have 19 players in training camp which opens today.

College Hoops: 

Oregon sophomore Jackson Shelstad was named to the preseason All-Big Ten Team. Shelstad made Pac 12 All Freshman and All Tournament teams last season.

Soccer:

The Portland Timbers sit in 9th place in the MLS Western conference. Tonight is the last of three regular season matches to make the final playoff push. The Timbers take on Austin starting at 7:30 tonight.

Local: 

High School - Girls Soccer Bend is at Caldera, Volleyball Madras plays Estacada, and number 3 ranked Crook County plays Gladstone. 

In the 5A Volleyball polls Bend is 3rd, Caldera is 5th, and Summit is 9th.
