Spartans' Smith Relays Autzen Experience...Timbers Can't Clinch

College Football:

Number 6 ranked Oregon has Michigan State tomorrow night. Spartans coach Jonathon Smith said during his media appearance this week he has shared his experiences as an Oregon State player and coach with his players to prepare them for the raucous Autzen stadium crowd. Smith called it a ‘tough road environment’.  There are probably more than a few Beaver fans with mixed feelings about who to root for in the game in Eugene. College Baseball:

Oregon State will open the season next year with their usual trips to Surprise, Arizona, and Round Rock, Texas. The Beavers will be at the College Baseball Classic at Surprise Stadium on February 14th. The Texas tourney will be the next weekend starting on the 21st.

NFL: 

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said his defense will have its hands full against Arizona QB Kyler Murray this Sunday. There’s also some rumors and speculation the 2-2 49ers could trade their disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk for the Raiders disgruntled wide receiver Davante Adams who wants out of Las Vegas.

Seattle still has several banged up defenders. Rooke D Tackle Byron Murphy didn’t practice yesterday with his hamstring injury. But coach Mike Macdonald said at his media availability yesterday safety Julian Love is doing ok. The 3 and 1 Seahawks have the Giants Sunday.

NBA:

The Trail Blazers’ Scoot Henderson’s comment on how ‘the good food’ was his biggest takeaway from his rookie season continues to get roasted on social media with one parody account getting over 3-million views making fun of the 2nd year guard’s first answer during media day. The Blazers are in their first week of training camp. The first preseason game is tomorrow night.

Soccer:

The Portland Timbers lost 1 - nil to Austin FC last night failing to clinch a playoff spot. There’s two matches left in the MLS regular season.

Local: 

High School - Volleyball Ridgeview at Mountain View, Caldera at Summit, Bend at  Redmond. Sisters plays Pleasant Hill, La Pine hosts Harrisburg, Culver is at Trinity Lutheran.
