College Football:
Oregon moved up to number 2 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and Coaches Poll rankings after the 32-31 win over Ohio State. The victory, which moved the Ducks to 6 - 0 and 3 - 0 in the Big 10 was in front of the largest crowd in Autzen stadium history at an announced 60,129. Now it's a short week including traveling to West Lafayette, Indiana for a matchup with Purdue Friday. [starts at 3:00 Friday 10/18 (kickoff 5 PM) on KBND FM 100 and 1110 AM.] Hear about game week preparations on the Oregon Ducks Insider daily podcast.
Oregon State couldn’t pull out the win in Nevada Saturday going down to the Wolf Pack in a 42-37 shootout. The banged up Beavers defense was worn down by the 4th quarter and ultimately couldn't get enough stops at the end. OSU drops to 4 - 2 and will regroup back in Corvallis for homecoming Saturday against UNLV.
Washington State took care of Fresno State to move to 5 - 1.
Washington was blown out by Iowa, and that has many fans grumbling about first-year coach Jed Fisch being in over his head in Seattle, but it may not be time to panic as this comes a week after an upset win against Michigan, and the Huskies are 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference, sitting in 6th place with a jumble of teams in ties with identical records.
Oregon is in first in the Big 10 along with Penn State, now ranked 3rd in the country, and Indiana ranked 18th, all undefeated with three conference wins.
College Baseball:
Oregon State split their fall ball double header with Gonzaga at Vince Genna Stadium in Bend yesterday. The Bulldogs took game 1, 7 to 6 but the Beavs bounced back in the night cap to hold off the squad from Spokane 13 to 11.
