Blazers Win...Beavs FB Prep For Air Force...Ducks FB Players Recognized

College Football:

Oregon State has to have a unique defensive game plan against the Air Force Academy’s run-it-on-pretty-much-every-down offense. Defensive Coordinator Keith Heyward told reporters yesterday (Wed) all of the positions from up front to the backfield have to be ready to tackle. The young team expects to use a high rotation of players to keep up with the physical Falcon attack. On the offensive side, coordinator Ryan Gunderson said every possession would be important because the Beavers will probably have less plays to run with Air Force killing the clock with their run-heavy scheme.

The Oregon offensive line are semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award, which goes to the nation's most outstanding offensive line unit. …Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel was announced as a semifinalist for both the Maxwell Award for the collegiate player of the year, and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award... Oregon inside linebacker Bryce Boettcher is a semifinalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, awarded annually to the nation's most outstanding football player who started out as a walk-on.
