College Baseball:

Oregon State will face Louisville in their first game in Omaha at the Men’s College World Series. The bracket also includes Coastal Carolina and Arizona as potential foes in the double-elimination match up.of the final 8 teams over the next two weeks. The Beavers face the Cardinals at 4 pm our time Friday afternoon.

 

Oregon State right-handed pitcher Dax Whitney has been named a Second-Team Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

 

The Blackfoot, Idaho native heads to Omaha with a 6-3 record and 3.66 earned run average over 16 appearances, all starts. He's struck out 111 batters in just 71 1/3 innings of work, an average of 14 per nine innings.

Oregon Athletics has revealed its 2025 Hall of Fame class, featuring an incredible roster of honorees. Headlining the induction is Marcus Mariota, the record-setting quarterback who claimed the 2014 Heisman Trophy and led the Ducks to national prominence. Also being honored are the women’s indoor track and field teams from 2011 to 2014, which together captured five straight NCAA championships. Athletic director Rob Mullens praised their excellence and impact on Oregon’s legacy. The formal induction will take place during the Hall of Fame banquet on the weekend of the USC football game in November.

 

MLB:

At Chase Field in Phoenix, the Diamondbacks defeated the Mariners 8-4 in 11 innings with a walk-off grand slam. The Mariners had to rally earlier and tied the game with four runs in the ninth, capped by a two-run homer from Dominic Canzone. Seattle is back at it with Arizona tonight. First pitch at 6:40.

 

The Giants are in Denver to take on struggling Colorado. Despite the five game winning streak the offense has been a major issue, scoring only 86 runs in the last 30 days. This has led to frustration among fans and even broadcasters.

San Francisco is a game and a half behind the Dodgers in the NL West. 

First pitch against the Rockies is at 5:40.
