SPORTS 6-11-25

College Baseball:

Oregon State coach Mitch Canham spoke to the media ahead of his team’s trip to Omaha. He talked about the full circle moment of going to the world series as a player and now as a coach. The Beavers face the Cardinals at 4 pm our time Friday afternoon in the Men’s College World Series.

More postseason honors are being announced: The Beaver's Aiva Arquette and Dax Whitney have been recognized by Perfect Game on Tuesday. Arquette has been selected as a Second-Team All-American and Whitney is a First-Team Freshman All-American. Those two along with catcher Wilson Weber, outfielder Gavin Turley and pitcher Ethan Kleinschmit are all American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region selections. Five players is an OSU single-season record.

Meanwhile in Eugene…

Oregon outfielder Mason Neville and starting pitcher Grayson Grinsell have been named All-Americans by Perfect Game. Designated Hitter Dominic Hellman and first baseman Jacob Walsh made the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team – West.

MLB:

The Giants were 6 - 5 winners in Denver to take that 1-run win streak to six! It took a 4 run rally in the 9th inning to tie it the longest smallest-margin of victory streak in 36 years.

San Francisco is now a half game behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

First pitch against the Rockies in game two of the series is at 5:40.

Seattle lost 10 - 3 in Arizona last night. Both teams got 12 hits but the Ms couldn’t get anybody home. The loss send the Mariners back to .500 at 33 -33. They’ll try to salvage the series against the Diamondbacks in the getaway game. First pitch at 12:40.

NFL:

The Seattle Seahawks had Kenneth Walker the third limited in workouts yesterday. Coach Mike MacDonald said the running back is working through an ankle injury. He told the gathered media he would be fine. It’s the first of a mandatory two-day minicamp for Seattle.

NBA:

The Trail Blazers brought in six more players for pre-draft workouts ahead of the draft in two weeks.

Local:

The Bend Elks lost last night in Bellingham. They’re back at it again with the Bells tonight.
