MLB:

Cal Raleigh is the starting American League All Star catcher.

Last night, the Mariners beat Kansas City 3-2 at T-Mobile Park. Randy Arozarena hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and later added a run with a sacrifice fly. Julio Rodriguez knocked in an RBI single in the seventh for the lead. Logan Gilbert recorded seven strikeouts in the win, and Andrés Muñoz secured his 19th save. The Mariners hold second place in the AL West. The next game in the series starts tonight against the Royals tonight at 7:10

 

The San Francisco Giants ended their four-game skid with a 6-5 victory in extra innings over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Patrick Bailey’s sacrifice fly brought Jung Hoo Lee home for the winning run in the 10th inning. Mike Yastrzemski kicked things off early with a solo homer, while Lee added a key RBI triple. Despite surrendering a game-tying home run in the ninth, Camilo Doval picked up the win. The Giants now stand third in the NL West with a 46-41 record, just one game out of the wild card. They face Arizona again at 6:40 PM.

 

COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

The Oregon football team added to its 2026 recruiting class. Four-star offensive lineman Tommy Tofi announced his pledge to the Ducks on Wednesday. The San Francisco native chose Oregon over offers from Cal and Utah, among others.

 

MLS:

The Timbers and Sounders will both play home games this weekend. Portland will take on the New England Revolution on Saturday. The Timbers are unbeaten in their last nine home games. Then on Sunday, Seattle will battle the Columbus Crew. This is the last of five straight home games for the Sounders, which includes the FIFA Club World Cup

 

LOCAL:

The Elks pounded the Sweets 14 - 4 last night to get the series with a win. Game two against Walla Walla is tonight. ( First pitch from Vince Genna is 6:05) Then Fireworks from the stadium after the game.

The 29th Todd Beamer Memorial 10K 5K and 2 mile continues its 4th of July tradition tomorrow.

 

Bend’s SURFEST is September 13th and 14th at Mckay Park benefiting The Central Oregon Surf Team Association (COSTA) and Bend Paddle Trail Alliance. The river surfing event will feature some of the best Surfers in the Northwest competing for over $10,000 in cash and prizes. Proceeds from SURFEST will fund scholarship programs for surf team youth groups’ competitions.
