COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
Oregon’s Dillon Thieneman and Matayo Uiagalelei have been named to the 2025 Big Ten Preseason Honors list. Thieneman, a standout defensive back from Purdue, and Uiagalelei, the Ducks’ hard-hitting linebacker, will both be at today’s Big Ten Media Day. Representing Oregon alongside them are head coach Dan Lanning, linebacker Bryce Boettcher and tight end Kenyon Sadiq, as the Ducks prepare for their season opener against Montana State.
NFL:
The Seattle Seahawks open training camp today at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton. Rookies reported last week, and veterans join the squad for their first official practice. This marks the second year under head coach Mike Macdonald, with new quarterback Sam Darnold set for his Seattle debut.
The San Francisco 49ers open their first full-team practice of training camp today in Santa Clara. Head coach Kyle Shanahan says key position battles and roster changes will be important storylines this year, but Left tackle Trent Williams and running back Christian McCaffrey are fully healed, healthy and expected to be ready to go today.

Cal Raleigh’s 39th home run was the difference in a 1 - 0 win for the Mariners last night. Seattle stopped the Brewers 11-game winning streak as Logan Gilbert outdueled Milwaukee phenom Jacob Misiorowski. Gilbert struck out 10 to 7 from the Mis. Rubber match of the series is today at 12:40
San Francisco pounded the Braves 9 - 0 yesterday evening up the series in Atlanta. DH Wilmer Flores had 4 RBI including a 3 run homer as Rafael Devers knocked in an RBI while playing first base for the first time this season. It’s meaningful as he adamantly refused to play first base for Boston earlier this season. First pitch today at 9:15.
LOCAL:
The Elks dropped their series opener in Walla Walla last night, getting edged 8 - 7 by the Sweets. The series continues tonight.
