Oregon Football Lands WR Bowman

COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

The Oregon football team added to its 2027 recruiting class. The Ducks received a commitment from four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman. The Tennessee native chose UO over offers from Ohio State and Oklahoma, among others. Bowman is Oregon's second 2027 commitment after edge rusher Cameron Pritchett pledged last month.

 

NFL:

Training camp notes-

San Francisco’s new Defensive Coordinator Robert Saleh says its an open competition for the best 11 players. There could be as many as eight new starters on defense this season. 49ers practice was open to the public yesterday.

 

Seahawks training camp day 2 was closed to fans. Media reports say free agent quarterback Sam Darnold is making connections with his new receivers; training sessions building rapport in the off season have apparently helped. And coaches and teammates praise the work ethic of rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe. He’s battling Drew Lock for the back up role.

 

MLB:

Seattle grabbed game one in Anaheim last night. The Mariners 4- 2 win keeps them 5 games behind the Houston Astros in the AL West.

Ahead of the game Seattle pulled the trigger on a trade with Arizona to get 1st Baseman Josh Naylor for two minor league pitching prospects.The slugger should be an upgrade at 1st base for the Ms.  Game two of the four game series against the Angels starts at 6:38 tonight.

 

San Francisco looks to keep pace with the Padres in the NL west as both trail the Dodgers. The Giants are back home to start a series with the NL East leading Mets. First pitch tonight is at 7:15.

 

NBA: 

The Chinese Basketball Association announced Blazers’ rookie Yang Hansen will not participate in the national team's training camp or the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup, allowing him to focus on development with the Trail Blazers. Yang, who drew millions in TV audiences during Chinese broadcasts of his NBA Summer League games, requested to skip the international tournament to attend training camps next month

 

MLS:

The Timbers will be in action tonight. Portland will take the field on the road against LAFC. The teams tied 3-3 in their first meeting of the season in April.

 

LOCAL:

The Elks are at Cowlitz to start a series with the Black Bears tonight.
