COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

Oregon State running back Anthony Hankerson and quarterback Maalik Murphy have been named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list. The honor is given annually to college football's player of the year. Hankerson is back for a second season with the Beavers. Murphy is a transfer from Duke.

Oregon football hits the field for preseason practice starting tomorrow. During a media session in Eugene yesterday, Head coach Dan Lanning says the team aims to build on last season’s College Football Playoff run. Several positions will be battling for starting spots—especially at quarterback and across both lines. The season starts August 30th. MLB:

Luis Castillo improved to 8 - 6 and Anthony Munoz picked up his 24th save on the season in the 3 -1 Mariners win over the A’s in Sacramento. New 1st baseman Josh Naylor swatted his first home run since being traded to Seattle with a solo shot in the 2nd inning. Game 2 First pitch tonight is 7:05.

San Francisco’s rally came up just short in a 6 - 5 loss to the Pirates last night. Willy Adames knocked in 2. Carson Whisenhunt took the loss giving up 4 runs in five innings. Game 2 starts tonight at 6:45.

NFL:

Training camp notes-

San Francisco went full pads in practice yesterday with a healthy edge rusher Nick Bosa and left tackle Trent Williams going at it in drills.

The Seahawks placed Running back Kenny McIntosh on injured reserve after his knee injury from Saturday's practice.

Rookie running back D.K. Kaufman was signed to fill the open spot on the 90-man roster. Kaufman, who went undrafted out of NC State, took part in Seattle's rookie minicamp as a tryout player,
