CFB:

Oregon State Vice President and Athletic Director Scott Barnes called it a difficult decision in the statement announcing Head Football Coach Trent Bray has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately, and that a national search for a new coach is underway.

Beavers wide receiver Trent Walker, a captain and arguably the team’s best player posted on social media he was ‘Forever grateful for Coach Bray. The impact he’s had on me and the rest of the players he’s coached is unmatched. He's a great coach & mentor and a big reason why I stayed in Corvallis. I'm disappointed to say the least.’ Walker was among several current and former players speaking out against the firing.

A lot of negative sentiment from the fanbase on social and traditional media feels the problems at OSU athletics runs to a higher level than Bray and the coaching staff.

Robb Akey, the new special teams coach as of last week, and current special assistant to the head coach, will finish out the season as the Beavs interim head coach.

There were actually a number of fans on social media calling for Ducks’ head coach Dan Lanning’s dismissal following the upset loss at Autzen. Lanning admitted in the post-game press conference the game plan didn’t work and the team wasn’t prepared during the upset loss to new number 2 Indiana. Oregon dropped to number 8 in the latest AP Poll and 9th in the Coaches poll. The Ducks make a long road trip to New Jersey to take on Rutgers this Saturday.
