The  Washington  Huskies have swiftly  filled their head coaching vacancy. The university  named Boise State's Chris Petersen to the position on Friday, less then  a week after  Steve Sarkisian left the Huskies to take the head coaching job  at USC. Petersen built a highly successful program at Boise State.

The  Seattle  Mariners have finally landed  a big free agent. ESPN Deportes is reporting  that the  Mariners have agreed to a 10-year, $240 million deal with second  baseman  Robinson Cano.

The Houston Texans relieved Gary Kubiak of his duties as head coach on Friday, less  than 24 hours  after the team was dealt its 11th consecutive loss with a 27-20 setback at Jacksonville.
