CBB:
The Oregon Men in their season opener lost a second half lead but hit a go-ahead lay-up in the closing seconds to hold-off Hawaii last night 60 - 59. The Ducks continue on the non-conference schedule against Rice Friday night.
CFB:
Oregon comes in at the number 9 spot in the first College Football Playoff rankings.
UO will have opportunities to get wins against three current CFP top-25 teams including this Saturday against number 20 Iowa, then it’s the final home game against No. 19 USC with the regular season finishing in Seattle against number 23 Washington.
The Ducks have appeared in each of the last 25 CFP top-25 rankings dating back to 2020.
Also yesterday, inside linebacker Bryce Boettcher was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award for the most outstanding linebacker, while outside linebacker Matayo Uiagalelei was named a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award for the top lineman or linebacker.

The 4- 3 Trailblazers have defending-champion Oklahoma City at the Moda center tonight. Portland will try to regroup after their defensive lapse in Monday’s loss to the Lakers. The Blazers have Shaedon Sharpe listed as probable with a sore calf. Tip off against the Thunder is at 7.
NFL:
The Seahawks are acquiring wide receiver Rashid Shaheed in a trade with the Saints. Seattle sent 2026 fourth- and fifth-round picks to New Orleans. The move helps the injury-depleted receiving corps. The Arizona Cardinals are at Lumen Field Sunday.
San Francisco couldn’t make a move at yesterday’s trade deadline. The 49ers tried to make deals for defensive help but ultimately didn’t pull the trigger according to reports.
Meanwhile the 9ers get ready for the Rams visit this Sunday.
